What is Bankruptcy?
Bankruptcy can help people get their life back on track and get a fresh
start by getting out of all or some of their debt. If you are trying to get
out of debt, help is available. There are two types of Bankruptcy cases
that most people file for in the United States. They are Chapter 7 and
Chapter 13. Chapter 7 will wipe out most debt allowing you to keep assets
that are exempt under the Bankruptcy Code. Chapter 13 involves reorganizing
your debt so that you are able to repay part or all of the debt over a
period not to exceed 5 years. There are many details in the Bankruptcy
process that can cause major changes in the final
outcome. It is recommended that you speak with a Bankruptcy lawyer who is
experienced and can help guide you in the correct direction.
